Some investors love the stock market. They live and breathe equities: the excitement, the passion, the devastation of loss, the victory. Some like the options and futures markets, feeling it takes more skill than equities. And, there are some that prefer the global aspects of the FOREX.

But no matter what you prefer, you come across again and again the problem of whether you should trade with the trend, or trade for range. The impact of which method is chosen affects your chance of success, and, the reason we’re all here, your wallet (or purse as the case may be).

But those dealing in the FOREX have a unique advantage in that the market responds well to both styles of trading. So, what exactly is trading trend and range? Let’s take a look.

Following the crowd

Put simply, a trend is the direction a market, or the price of a single asset, takes. Trends vary from short, to long, to longer and to even longer or shorter.

There are trend identifiers that can tell you which way the wind is blowing. The simplest, and probably the best, method is to look at the higher lows in an uptrend and the lower highs when the market or asset is in a downtrend. There are other methods of course. For example, some investors like to define a trend as “a deviation from a range as indicated by the Bollinger Band.” What’s a Bollinger Band, you ask? It’s a band plotted two standard deviations away from a simple moving average.

But in the end, it doesn’t matter how you define it or look at it because the goal is the same: to make money by buying in on a trend early and holding on until the trend gives out and starts slowing. Most traders use tight stop trade orders (an order to buy or sell a security when its price surpasses a certain point), to limit their risk.

This method of trend trading can have huge payoffs. Leverage in the FOREX, because of its size and 24 hour trading, is typically 100:1, meaning that you only need to put down $1 of margin to get $100 worth of currency control. Given that the stock market is 2:1 and the futures market which is usually 25:1, you can see why you can make a huge amount of money with trend trading in the FOREX.

The Long Term

But trend trading isn’t for everybody. It takes discipline, with many traders meeting 20 or even 30 stop calls before they can catch a trend. If you get emotional about it and try to fight the market, you could lose your shirt.

That’s where range trading comes in. The range trader doesn’t care about direction. He trades knowing that no matter where the currency goes, it will come back to where it started. Range trading is based on the theory that prices will trade at the same levels many times, and the range trader will be there to gather up those profits from the oscillations in price.

But range trading isn’t free and clear either. A range trader will have to have a lot of money they are willing to risk to put the practice into play successfully. But, with more money (in the case of the FOREX, more leverage), there’s more chance of the trader’s enemy (i.e. emotion) coming into play. Positions can go against you many times in a row before you get a profit, and many traders just don’t have the stomach to watch their hard earned cash dwindling while they hang on to the idea of profits in the future. Also, if you’re not careful, with more than a few losses in a row you could trigger a margin call before you’ve had a chance for the currency to produce profits for you.

But, don’t despair. Many FOREX dealers have come up with a solution: they allow you to trade in mini-lots. By trading in mini-lots you can withstand many more drawdowns before triggering a stop order. This allows you to withstand more losses in a row before a margin call is issued.

One or the Other

Regardless of which method the trader chooses, the FOREX market is ready and able for both. As long as the trader remains disciplined and realizes that there will be some losses no matter what they do, they will improve their chances of fattening their bank accounts.

The Internet has brought a lot of changes in the way that we live our lives and our conduct our personal business. We can shop, date, and bank online. You can do just about anything online.

We can even trade stocks, forex, bonds, futures to name a few online. Traders love having the convenience of being able to look at their accounts whenever they see fit, and brokers also like having the choice to take orders over the net as opposed to the phone.

When you are new to investing it is an advantage to have the ability to speak with a broker. You are able to ask questions face to face and have any fears taken care off. Online stock trading can be very risky when you don’t have the correct information. If this is the case, make sure that you learn as much as you can about trading stocks before you start trading online.

Most brokerage houses now offer online trading to their clientele. Because doing business can cut down operating costs a great thing about trading online is that fees and commissions can be much lower. Online trading is great but like anything there are some disadvantages.

When it comes to choosing an online broker or brokerage firm go with years of establishment as well as feedback from other clients. You won’t find one that has been in business online for many years of course because online trading is just in its infancy, but you can find a company that has been in business that long and now offers online trading.

Working on the internet means relying on a machine and like all other machines break downs can happen. In trading if this is at the most inopportune time it could cause losses for you. You won’t always have the ability to get online to make a trade. You need to be sure that you can call and speak with a broker if this is the case using the online broker. This is truth for both advanced traders or beginners.

Online trading is a fantastic opportunity, convenient and can be highly profitable but it isn’t for everyone. Think carefully before you trade online and make sure that you really know what you are doing. Do your research and homework and you will do very well.

During the chaotic uncertain times we live in, people often look at different outlets for income. Whether they are searching for a full time income to replace their job or a part time income so they can save a little each month. One venue people like to look at is trading or investing. Many people look to trade stocks, options, and futures. But most recently forex trading has grown immensely in popularity And for good reason. Here are some of the benefits of learning to trade forex:

1) A 24 hour trading market - With stocks and futures, the markets close at 4 pm est. With forex having an international platform, currency rates are constantly trading even if the US markets are closed. So if you come home from work at 5 pm. (like most people) you’ll always find a currency pair you can trade with forex. If you are a stock trader, by the time you get home, the market has already closed.

2) Completely recession proof – No matter how good or bad the US economy is doing, you can always be successful trading forex (as long as you know what you are doing). The dollar can always be traded with or against. As long as you can trade either way of the market, recession is something you never have to worry about, since money can be made on both sides.

3) The ability to trade anywhere - How many people in this world can say that they can travel when and where they want and still do their job? Not too many. Learning to trade forex correctly can lead to the freedom and time to do that. All it takes is a laptop and internet connection.

4) Trading flexibility – Most investment vehicles require a large sum to start trading. Most accounts require you to have 5K-10K to get started if you plan on trading stocks or futures. To be honest you’re going to need them, because it takes a lot of shares to make money trading stocks. With forex you can open an account with many brokers for a few hundred dollars. You have the ability to play micro or mini lots so you don’t have to trade with full lot sizes as the big boys do.

5) No commissions - Unlike stock brokers, the majority of forex brokers do not charge a commission for each forex trade you make.

These are just some of the many great benefits of forex trading.

Well, the odds certainly with you. The fact 95% of forex traders fail to make any money. But if you think outside the box a little bit you can certainly be successful trading forex. The key is not to make the same mistakes that are so common with forex traders.

For starters, don’t over leverage your account. I’d recommend not using a margin that is higher than 200:1. Try to keep your usable margin above 95%. So many losses are cause by simply not taking into account the money management aspect of trading. Either they overleverage their accounts so badly that they get margin calls or they just get so nervous and anxious that they cut their trades for major losses just do to fear.

Pick a forex broker with a good history. It’s tough finding one that has 100% positive feedback when doing your research online, so just pick the best out of the bunch. The worst brokers are the ones that chase down your stop losses. You can never account how many losses are taken because the broker pushes the price of the currency to your stop loss, only to revert back to the opposite direction.

But the biggest tip I can give you is get rid of all of your indicators. Think about this statistic again: 95% of forex traders fail to make money. The moment most traders start trading, they instantly find some kind of system that relies on lagging indicators. Lagging indicators: They lag. Even though most people know this, they flood their charts with these indicators, instead of trying to understand the power of price action. Price action is the oldest form of technical analysis. It will never go out of style. It’s just a shame that most traders don’t start of trading this way.

Trading price action is much easier than many people think. Once you understand it you’ll never go back to using indicators.

When governmental agencies examine why the vast majority of new traders to the Foreign Exchange Markets (Forex or FX) failed, (95%) statistics have shown the vast majority of collapses are directly related to the margins offered by the various Forex brokerage firms. A currency can only go in one of two directions, which are it can increase in value or decrease in value. There fore the chances of correctly selecting the path a currency in moving is 50%. But, 95% of new traders to the market fail to make money and drop out. Simply put, these statistics don’t match; they do not correspond to what should be expected. So there must be another factor causing so many breakdowns when entering the FX markets.

Governmental researchers then dived deeper into the numbers and determined that some Forex brokerage firms where offering margins of as much as 200 times more than the original investment. Which means a person investing $100 could control as much as $20,000 worth of currency. When compared to the regulated stock markets, which can only offer a one to one margin, in other words for every $1 invested the trader was allowed to borrow an additional $1 to invest with, they found the Forex brokerage firms allowable margins completely out of control.

To the novice investor the idea of controlling $20,000 worth of currency with a $100 investment seems like the greatest thing they have ever seen, which is simply not the case. In order to be profitable with this approach one would need to make winning trades 100% of the time in order to not be wiped out. Another factor most new investors in the FX markets are not aware of is that they are being charged interest on the $20,000 they are borrowing. This is another reason accounts can be wiped out if a currency stays relatively flat for a few days.

There are a multitude of exceptional Forex training courses that go into detail on the proper methods to control margin related risk. If a new trader in the Forex markets does not understand this simple concept at the highest level they simply have little or no chance of being successful. You really need to take your time to learn currency trading from the bottom to top in order to be profitable. Some of the Forex trading systems have warning systems in place when one is using more than an acceptable rate of margins, which can be extremely helpful since normally as an investor advances in there career they become involved in more than one currency trade concurrently. Simply put, if you don’t understand all of the consequences of utilizing the margins offered by the Forex brokerage firms you really should not be trading the currency markets.

An offshore bank account is an account at a bank located outside the United States or other country of residence of the banking client. These bank accounts are known for having low tax liabilities, thus making them also commonly known as tax havens. Offshore bank accounts also tend to provide financial and legal benefits. These benefits may include:

• less controlling legal regulation
• little to no taxation
• greater secrecy
• easy access to funds
• protection against local financial or political instability

Popular Offshore Banking Destinations

The most infamous and popular offshore banking centers in the global market are the Cayman Islands and Switzerland. Other well-known established destinations for offshore banking include the following (in alphabetical order):

• Bahamas
• Barbados
• Belize
• Bermuda
• British Virgin Islands
• Cyprus
• Dominica
• Gibraltar
• Ghana
• Hong Kong
• Labuan, Malaysia
• Liechtenstein
• Luxembourg
• Malta
• Macau
• Mauritius
• Monaco
• Montserrat
• Nauru
• Panama
• Seychelles
• Turks and Caicos Islands

Bad Reputation

Because of the seemingly lax regulation of monies deposited in offshore bank accounts, offshore banking has gotten something of a bad rap over the last few years. These types of bank accounts have often been associated with tax evasion, money laundering and organized crime. Offshore banking has been erroneously linked to shady business practices and underground economy. Legally, however, this type of banking does not deem personal funds safe from being subject to income tax on earned interest. U.S. taxpayers are required to report (on penalty of perjury), any offshore bank accounts which may be in their possession. Offshore banking institutions are not obligated to declare any income to foreign tax authorities (A.K.A. the IRS) because they are protected by bank secrecy. This lack of regulation toward reporting suspected tax evaders does not make not reporting the income (or evading income tax associated with it) legal.

On the Other Hand

Proponents of offshore banking have condemned any efforts towards supervision and control. They claim the process is driven, not by safety and financial issues, but by the aspiration of local banks and the IRS to control the funds stored in offshore bank accounts. They refer to the alleged fact that offshore banking offers a competitive threat to the established banking and taxation systems in countries such as the U.S.

Tightening Regulations

Even for those hoping to find easy tax havens and money laundering shelters in offshore accounts will find that the old rules no longer apply. The regulation of offshore banking is improving in many ways. The regulation of these elusive banking institutions is increasingly monitored by supranational nongovernmental organizations such as the International Monetary Fund. Offshore banks are required to report at least quarterly on many different aspects of their business. The increased focus on anti-money laundering initiatives in several different countries signifies that bank employees at all levels are encouraged to report suspicion of money laundering to the local authorities despite bank secrecy. Additionally, there is increased cooperation between police authorities across international borders.

In Conclusion

Though offshore banking has traditionally been notorious for money laundering, tax evasion and for being a tool for organized crime, increased regulation is making those stigmas a thing of the past. There are many advantages of offshore banking, most of which are legal and perfectly honorable. The desire of local banks to control all funds originated in the U.S. and “get a piece of the pie” does not immediately translate to dishonest money laundering schemes.

Those familiar with online business and internet transactions, are acquainted with the name e-gold. An online currency, that was used by many online businesses because it provided an alternative to bogus credit cards and suspicious transactions from faulty bank accounts, has been very popular with online merchants and even a stable within certain online investments, mainly HYIP’s or High Yield Investment Programs.

Even though, every giant faces a downfall. Starting with a recent report by BusinessWeek accusing E-Gold of having ties to certain financial schemes, in recent weeks the online currency stud has faced much scrutiny leading up to recent investigations and probes by FBI into the companies means of operation.

In a surprising event, the parent company of the e-gold currency has been indicted on charges of money laundering and cooperation with criminal entities. Announced by attorneys, Jeffrey A. Taylor and Matthew Friedrich, E-Gold Ltd. has been realized as an organization with illegal practices and cooperation with thefts of money in relation to several identity scams.

The Suspects

The head honcho of E-Gold Ltd., Dr. Douglas Jackson has pleaded guilty to being involved with the practices of money laundering and even using an unregistered monetary transaction business. Also included in the charges are his fellow business partners, Barry Downey and Reid Jackson, who both were found guilty of violations within District of Columbia in relation to utilizing an unlicensed money transaction business.

The Sentencing

The sentencing decided for the date of November 20, 2008 has serious implications. In a show of strict punishment, the court decided that E-Gold should face a maximum fine of $3.7 million. In addition to that, the principal director of E-Gold Ltd., Dr. Douglas Jackson faces a maximum imprisonment of 20 years coupled with a fine of $500,000 based on his involvement in conspiring to launder money through his company. Jackson also has been given up to 5 years and a fine of $250,000 for not having a registered monetary transaction business.

The other senior directors Downer and Reid Jackson also faced similar charges. Each one respectively received up to 5 years in prison and an additional fine of $25,000. The court has also found the company, E-Gold liable of $1.75 million dollars.

An Internet Federal Reserve

E-gold, a digital currency operated by Gold & Silver Reserve Inc., was a currency of much respect and recognition within the world of online merchants. Due to the statistics on the company website, in 2007, the parent company of the e-gold currency had approximately US $86 million of gold and silver in storage and roughly three million e-gold accounts.

Initially started in 1996 by Dr. Douglas Jackson and Barry K. Downey, e-Gold made it possible for businesses and consumers to make transactions all around the world with one currency. All exchanges done electronically, e-gold provided a useful benefit in todays world of comfortability.

Main supporters of the e-gold currency, enjoyed its use because they felt it provided alternative benefits against the risks of fiat currencies, such as inflation, and depreciation. Each basic unit within the e-gold currency was backed by reserves and provided a viable investment for those interested in building up assets in commodities such as gold and silver.

Conclusion

Interestingly enough, E-Gold Ltd. is another sign of the easy access of criminal entities into the pockets of consumers. With scams decorating the online market place, E-Gold Ltd. is another detrimental blow to online entrepreneurs and legitimate businesses who wish to seek profit within the World Wide Web. From HYIP’s, Autosurfers to the faulty business practices of certain pay per click search engine companies, one has to walk well equipped in the realm of online business making sure every corner is checked and stone overturned.

I’m here to help you find the best foreign exchange trading tips and strategies that you can use on your daily trades to help you be a better trader. This is an exciting market, and for most people, they are new and want to learn as much as they can. I’m here to share a little knowledge with you.

  • The Point of a Demo: A demo platform (or account) is a way to practice trading without actually having to use your money. It’s really just a simulator of the process. Demo accounts won’t make you an expert. It isn’t designed that way. You will often hear experts claim that demos are a waste of time and that is precisely the reason why. They have a great role for new people though. The first thing is that you get to learn how to use your trading platform. You don’t have to worry about making a mistake or pushing the wrong button. If you don’t know what something is, push and find out. The second thing is that you can work to develop a routine for yourself. A way to start acting on a regular basis with your platform. Lastly, you can try out some strategies to see how good you are to start with.
  • You Trade In Pairs: All this means is that a single currency in itself doesn’t really have a value. It’s value is always with respect to another currency. You have to be aware that when you’re looking for a good trade, you may not see one. But if you change what currency you’re comparing it against, it could be an excellent buy for you. The Euro compared to the Canadian dollar could be considered a bad trade, but the Euro compared to the USD could be a great buy. Always remember you’re viewing things in pairs.
  • Software: You should get your hands on software like Forex Killer. All the big banks and corporations have software working for them, so you should take advantage of it too. They allow you to automate your trading process. They also have ways of find trends that could be very profitable for you.

I’m currently giving a 7 day free forex training course. Newbies and experienced are all welcome. If you’re interested in participating, check out the Casual Forex Trader.

If you financial situation is out of control it may be time to create a personal budget. This could be the decision that gets your finances back on track because it takes back control of what your money is doing. You want your money to work for you not your creditors, which is exactly what it is doing if you are living paycheck to paycheck. Instead of paying interest to them why not make it yourself?

A personal budget will do many things for you. The most important thing it does is let you make informed decisions about how you spend your money. It will show you exactly what you income and expenses are and lets you make adjustments to ensure a sound financial future.

Other then taking the time to get started, creating a budget is relatively easy. You will need a notebook or legal pad and a pencil. Draw a line down the middle of your paper, label one side income and the other expenses, and you are ready to go.

1. Gather up your last three months worth of pay stubs and any other records that show income. Total them up and divide by three to get your average monthly income. That number gets written down at the top of the income column.

2. Now for the fun part. Gather up all your bills, credit card statements, and checkbook register and start itemizing a months worth of expenses in the expense column. For those bills that fluctuate each month you can use the three month method as used in step one to get a solid average. Add all those expenses up and write the total down at the bottom.

3. This is the step most people fear. Compare your income to your expenses and see which one is more. If you expenses are higher then your income then you have a problem that needs to be fixed. Chances are you are making up this shortfall with credit of some sort. You can’t build a sound financial plan if you are in debt, it’s that simple.

4. Now that you have everything written down it’s time to look it over carefully. Target unnecessary expenses and start cutting them. A budget gives you the power to free up money that can be used for more important tasks.

5. You can also use your newly created budget to start prioritizing your debts and which need to be paid off first. This gives you a game plan to get out of debt while actually being able to see positive results, which is a major part of good money management.

6. As you get better at budgeting you can start to refine and track your long term financial plans. You can manage savings accounts, investments, emergency funds, and retirement accounts using your personal budget.

7. Patience is required when first starting out because it won’t work perfectly those first few times. Most people need 3 or so months of budgeting practice before they start to really get the hang of it.

Your financial future is in your hands. Nobody can build it for you. If you create a personal budget you will take the first step to attaining your financial goals.
